These are the buildings our neighborhood is made of. A barn with a singing hayloft, two houses with working doorbells and radios, a mountain a foot and a half tall, a service station and an airport. Each one gives a toddler a place to put a figure and a reason to tell you what happens next.

Start with the place your child already talks about. Children who point at every cow on a drive tend to love the farm; children who narrate breakfast will play house for an hour. The Smart Stages sets (the farm and the Friends Together Play House) change their songs and phrases as your child grows, so they stay interesting from the first birthday to preschool.
If floor space is tight, look at the sets that fold: the service station and the Friends Together house both close up, and the Surprise & Sounds Home stores its own family inside.
