The welcome sign

Population: one bus driver, several farmers, a great many animals. Founded 1959.

The first residents were passengers. They sat in round holes on a Fisher-Price pull-along bus, had no arms and no legs, and still managed to be the part of the toy children carried off to bed. That told us something. The vehicle was fine, but the people were the toy.

A short history, in order

  1. 1959. Peg figures ride the Safety School Bus.
  2. The 1960s and 70s. The figures get a farm with a barn door that moos, a house, a garage and an airport.
  3. The 1990s. The figures grow chunkier so the youngest toddlers can grip them safely.
  4. The late 1990s. Arms, faces, names and personalities arrive.
  5. Today. Sets talk, sing and count, and guests from Disney, Barbie, Super Mario and DC live down the street.

Three promises we have kept

Sized for small hands
A Little People figure is made to be held in a fist, stood up, knocked over and held again.
Everything fits everything
A figure from one box sits in the vehicle from another. No set is an island.
The child tells the story
Sounds and songs are there to start play. What happens next is up to whoever is holding the farmer.
